FREDERICKSBURG 2014 REUNION
How do you spell WOW!
Those that attended the 2014 Fredericksburg
Reunion, hosted by Lamar and Dee Kimble, know firsthand
what a great success it was. The
attendance was amazing---189 retired officers, spouses, significant others,
family members, and friends. The meal of
fried catfish and trimmings was delicious; fellowship was heartwarming with old
partners, classmates, and friends; and the silent auction yielded $3,485 for
the Surviving Spouses Luncheon to be held on March 31, 2015.
The doors at the Lady Bird Pavilion opened at 8:30am with coffee and
donuts. Attendees saw table after table
of donated items and what great items they were. Everyone gathered and visited with old friends
until about 11:30am. At that time, HPROA
President Steve Rayne and Executive Director welcomed everyone; Bill gave an
update on the State Legislature and our Pension. He then recognized Larry Doss, Director of
HPOPS, who gave a more detailed update on our pension. At this time, our President Steve Rayne
recognized our host and hostess Lamar and Dee on their 14th year of
hosting the Fredericksburg
Reunions; this beautiful couple was given an appropriate plaque and gift card for
their dedication and hard work. They
certainly have made my job easier as Entertainment chair.
After our Luncheon prayer led by Chaplain “Monty” Montgomery and the
Pledge of Allegiance, everyone feasted on a wonderful catfish dinner. As usual with our crowd at this Reunion, it was “all you can eat” and no one went home
hungry at the end of the day!!! Plenty
of photos were taken (check our website) by Earl Logsdon and there are even
some uniform divisions’ photos of attendees.
Great idea, Earl.
Thanks to all that donated many, many items for the auction. And of course, those that did the bidding and
won someone else’s treasures…. Thanks,
also, to all the volunteers who helped set up the day before and again assisted
during the actual Reunion.
