    HPOPS Board of Directors Election

Mail out paper ballots were mailed out today (10-30-18) and electronic ballots
were sent to all HPOPS members that gave their e-mail addresses to HPOPS.
You can only use one method to VOTE. No double voting!
The important thing is that you VOTE !!

The voting of our HPROA members has been the deciding factor in most of the past
HPOPS elections, and “can” be again this time if we “ALL” vote.

Your HPROA Board of Directors voted to endorse a candidate for both
the Active and Retired position that is up for election this year.
For the ”Active Officer Position,” we ask that you vote for GEORGE GUERRERO.
For the “Retired Officer Position,” we ask that you vote for RODNEY HILL.
The future of your pension will be decided by the HPOPS
Directors
you elect. It is important for all members to .

Steve Rayne, HPROA - President

Your HPROA Board of Directors voted
after thoughtful consideration to endorse a candidate for both the
Active and Retired position that is up for election this year.  Their decision
was difficult, particularly in the Retiree position since all three candidates
are members of the HPROA, and are equally qualified.  In the Active position,
the decision was for the candidate that has a proven record in office.

Election Time and Rumors

It is election time and rumors and misinformation abound both on a national level and at HPOPS.  During the last trustee election cycle (2017) there were a number of untrue rumors that were spread among active officers and retirees using word of mouth and social media.  Some of the rumors were malicious untruths that HPOPS failed to address.  This election year rumors and misinformation will be addressed.

The first rumor to surface this trustee election cycle involves the DROP/PROP Interest Rate announcement that will be released in November, as usual.  The rumor is that the pension system is waiting until after the pay parity election in November so the DROP/PROP interest rate can be lowered if pay parity is passed by the citizens.

The truth is that between June and the October board meeting each year the auditor is doing what auditors do, auditing the pension system in order to render an opinion about the HPOPS financial statements and returns. [More]
