Call to Order:  President Steve Rayne called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.

Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance:  Steve Rayne

Present:  Ashby, Barnard, Elkin, Gaines, Potell, Rayne, Toth, Walschburger, Zoch 
Absent:   Beale, Blair, Kivela, Miller, St.John 

Sergeant at Arms:  Robert Crane -absent  

Parliamentarian:  Ed Aldridge

Determination of Quorum: A quorum was present.

Treasurer’s Report and Minutes of Previous Meeting: 
Motion by Walschburger, 2nd by Potell to approve minutes and treasurer’s report as printed.  Voice Vote.  Motion Carried.

President – Steve Rayne:
Burial Fund President Jay Gause will speak at the business meeting.
Secure Legacy Representative Stephanie Salcedo, a funeral planning service, will be at the March meeting with door prizes. [More]

Motion by Forrest Turbeville, 2nd by Fred Walschburger to approve the minutes as printed. Voice Vote. Motion Carried.

This plaque made by Rick Ashwood, to honor Whittier, California Police Office Keith Boyer is 20 inches wide and 24 inches tall and 1.7 inches thick.  Its now finished and will be shipped to Whittier in the next few days.  Officer ,Boyer was killed in the line of duty. and this plaque to honor him and his service will be shipped to Whittier, California.  This plaque was made possible from donations from  retired HPD Officers Tom Cunningham, Paul Bonar, Cynthia Clawson, Jim Gratz, Barbara Willis Cotton, Richard Still, H L Richter, Jerry Collard, Glen Weinschreider, Tim Gerke, Hans Marticiuc, Bruce Evans, Domingo Guerro, John Miller, Robert Bryce, David Kalick, Kare Padgett, and Steve Lyons.
Police Pension Update
March 25, 2917

On Monday, March 20th, the Senate State Affairs Committee held a public testimony hearing on SB 2190, authored by Senator Joan Huffman.  This is her version of the pension compromise legislation from Houston that includes the three pension systems for Houston employees, Police, Fire and Municipal Systems.  The entire package consisted of 260 pages, of which 96 pages of the legislation was for the HPOPS portion  of the compromise.  One part of the HPOPS language included a clause that would require the most recent election of Mike Newsome to be term limited to one year because he went into "Phase Down A". Houston Police Burial Fund

 Where we started

 Since 1921, Houston police officers have donated money to the Houston Police Burial Fund to contribute towards their brother and sister officers’ funerals. It originally started out as a collection in a shoebox whenever an officer died. Then it changed to donating 25¢ each time an officer picked up his paycheck at the police headquarters. [More]

Family assistance Updates
March 2017
Forrest Turbeville:(3-28-17 nf) Forrest underwent out patient surgery this morning to remove cancerous tissue on the left side of his nose. Surgeon was confident that all effected tissue was removed and he was home by 10AM and now resting with some minor pain. On April 4th, he will return to have stitches removed and another smaller site on his forehead will be removed. Keep Forrest and Sue in your daily prayers.

Al Lotz
(3-08-17rh) We visited with Al today and found that he had suffered three TIA STROKES and was hospitalized for several days. [More]

Ernest Leal:(2-18-17 nf) Dee Leal reports that Ernest was moved to Health South at 13031 Wortham Center Dr, FM 1960 at Hwy 90 area yesterday for a period of rehab. A good sign things are getting better. Pray for Ernest.

Chuck Smith:(2-18-17 nf) We visited with Chuck by phone on 2-16-17 and he is in a better frame of mind since getting out of rehab and back home in Ingram where Dot can give him lots of TLC. He is recovering nicely without the pain. Lift up prayers for Chuck.

Harold Hanna:(2-18-17 nf)  We have received reliable reports that Harold is at home after a rigorous course of chemo and most recent tests reveal he is now cancer free. [More]
