WELDON W. MARKERT: We visited with Weldon this afternoon by phone as he is in Methodist Hospital, 6565 Fannin, Weldon was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago with a bleeding ulcer. He was then released and went home to recover. His body then began retaining fluid to the point that he had to be hospitalized for treatment.[More] |

In an effort to stimulate the interest of current HPROA members so that they might become more actively involved in the recruitment of new members, the following plan was approved by the HPROA Board of Directors on 4-11-08
If a current member actively seeks out a non-member and recruits that person to submit a membership application to the HPROA office, the recruiting member will receive a credit of $25.00 toward his own upcoming membership renewal. PIERCE LEAKE - (12-11-2008) (Delvin) - Ruth Massey advised that Pierce had been hospitalized but was now recuperating at home. I contacted Pierce and learned he was in the hospital for a couple of weeks with some intestinal bleeding. He said they did a colonoscopy and found he had several intestinal ulcers. Call To Order:
President Jack Miller called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m.
Prayer: Nelson Foehner Pledge of Allegiance: Bill Elkin
Secretary's Report and Treasurer's Report:
· Motion by Louis Elliott, 2nd by Floyd Nettles to accept the reports as printed. No discussion. Voice Vote. Motion Carried.
HPOPS Ralph Marsh:
· HPOPS is well diversified although we will suffer through this just like everyone else.
· Pension Benefits are safe and will continue to be paid.
· HPOPS is a very cohesive unit and has had experience dealing with down markets before.
· Pension value is currently 2.5 Billion which is the same as last month.
· HPOPS is preparing for the 2009 Texas Legislative Session in order to protect our pensions.
· Mayor White wants to get away from the current way pensions are funded and move to a 401k, or similar type, where employees manage their own pension accounts.
· Mayor White also wants to change the Pension Board structure so the City has control of the boards, funds and benefits.[More] |
