"If you weren't there you missed a great time"
The Conroe Reunion was held Saturday, March 25th at Havens Landing. We had 159 retirees attending which was just 14 shy of last year.
The dining room was arranged and decorated to a "T". With Mary Nichols being in the Hospital and Albert not being able to decorate anything except his truck, it was left up to Barbara Cotten to "carry the load", and boy did she....Barbara had several of the wives join in and they had the place looking great. Thanks, Barb and to all your helpers.
Everyone I talked to said they had a great time. The meal, of "Chicken Fried Chicken" was catered again this year by "Kountry Catfish" and even Harry Hall enjoyed it !! If anyone left hungry it was their own fault..
We had door prizes of cash and gifts.. The HPROA donated 2-$50, and 4-$25 door prizes and Pam Miller, Jack Miller's much better half, donated a $50 cash door prize. We also had various other prizes. Again, as usual, I didn't write down the names of the winners and having slept since then, can't remember all of the winners....but if you had been there you would know!!
Harold Krause held a short ceremony in memory of the Officers who had passed away since Jan. 2005. It was very moving to me and I believe to everyone, as he read the names of our Deceased Brothers. I know I sound like a broken record when I keep urging everyone to attend the Reunions. However when you look back and remember you had the chance to tell old war stories with a "partner" one last time, you'll understand what I mean..
NEXT REUNION--CROCKETT CIVIC CENTER--JUNE 3rd--SEE YOU THERE
